| This is my first blog ever... for real. Jeff has quoted me before, but I have never had my own entry. Wow, I'm kinda nervous. We were at Baker's Square tonight for our date, and we officially invented the best creamer game ever. It is already copyrighted, but I'm giving all you all permission to play. Go ahead; share it with a friend. Here are the rules.... Players: infinite Materials needed: little containers of creamer, a piece of paper (we used our receipt), a pen, and a good sense of humor Instructions: Roll 2 creamers, just like you would dice. Each time you roll you get a certain number of points depending on how the two creamers land. Beware though, you could lose all your points from that round if the creamers land the wrong way. The first person to get 20 points wins. Point value: - 2 face up= 2pts
- 2 face down= 2pts
- on top of each other= automatic WIN
- 1 face up, 1 face down= 3pts
- touching= 5 pts
- both on their side= 3pts
- 1 face up, 1 on its side= 1 pt
- 1 face down, 1 on its side= lose your points from that round
For example, you roll the creamers and they are both face up. You now have 2 points. Now you make a decision, do you want to keep rolling to try to get more points or do you want to stop? You're a risk taker so you decide to roll again. You roll 1 face up, 1 face down... that's 3 pts. So now you have a total of 5 pts. Again, you have the same decision, do you want to roll again to try to get more points or do you want to stop with your 5 pts. Let's say you decide to stop. Then you jot down your 5 pts. Those points can't be lost/taken away. Let's say you would have decided to roll again, but you rolled 1 face down and 1 on its side. You then would have lost all 5 of your pts. Then it would be the next person's turn. So, that's how it works. Your turn is over either because you decide to stop and keep the points that you have aquired or because you rolled the dreaded 1 face down, one on its side. Varations: Feel free to change up the point values or that one(s) that cause you to lose your points. You can also change up the amount that you need to win. Happy Cream playin'!! I'd love to hear stories how it goes for you. :) Kate

I
have taken a break from blogging to try to simplify my life. But
I wanted to post this bit of text that didn't make it into our latest
newsletter. It's part of the story of Kate's interaction with a
Russian student in Freiburg Germany this summer:
Anstassia
has never met a Christian before who lives out the truth of God. Though she doesn’t know if she believes in
God or not, she told me once about a dream she had. “I saw Jesus.
His face was beautiful! He showed
me this city of gold, where the streets were lined with gold. There was this special music playing...the
most beautiful music I have ever heard.
Nothing like the music I have ever heard on earth. Then at the end of the dream he said, “come
and follow me.” In disbelief, I said,
“And you still don’t believe in God??”

| This is DuEntscheidest.com (YouDecide.com) week for us. We're wearing
these ridiculous red shirts. Germans stair at us as we pass. It's
funny. But they assume we're German because we have German on our
shirt. A number of times people have walked up and said a lot in
German, probably saying "what is that crazy shirt all about?" Makes me
wish I could speak the language better. Wearing the shirts and passing
out flyers has led to a lot of great conversations. We'll never know
how many Germans visit the website with stories of God changing lives
written by Germans. Some students have responded more angrily or made
fun of us already this week, so please pray for us to respond in love
to that.
Midproject Retreat is this weekend. It's not really mid-project. More like 2/3rds project.
| We took some German and Belgian students to the weekly meeting of Campus fur Christus on Thursday night. So amazing to see over 30 students worshiping God in German together and then listening to a talk about making Biblical decisions about their future. Hans, the national campus director here spoke. He is serious about seeing more and more German students sent out to be full-time laborers for Christ. The community of Christ-followers here is growing and you can almost see that day when this commmunity will send out believers to launch other movements in other places. That's why we're here! | | |
| There is just something about thousands of people celebrating, blocking trains and streets, and making the police nervous. :) The World Cup feels so different than any other sport. Like it is a matter of national importance. The streets here are defined by it. It comes up in every conversation. Everz cafe advertises 'Weld Meistershaft Live' for live world cup. Soccer may not be very exciting compared to football or basketball, but there is the anticipation for 90+ minutes that a magical game-changing moment could come together at just the right time. Goal!
We met a believer in the Mensas yesterday. He made a decision for Christ through a traveling preacher. But he isn't yet connected to the group of believers at his school. And he probablz would never have gotten connected if we hadn't chosen his table at the cafeteria that day. That's why we're here.
